There are a lot of accelerometer types. I was wondering what kind of accelerometer does the Sony Ericsson C510 have?
Is it just a tilt sensing feature with a cheaper component, which is not a true accelerometer?
Thanks!

It’s a high quality accelerometer, as fast as one on N96 and fully functional.
In Media it is only used to rotate the screen anticlockwise. Some flash wallpapers and flash themes can utilize it with full functionality. I’ve a few such wallpapers and themes. Some games also use it. Most of them are available from PlayArena. You should try Needforspeed Underground. It is available free on some websites.
Highly sensitive Triple axis accelerometer. It’s highly sensitive. To make this better understandable it provides accurate position of your phone with respect to XYZ axis to your phones processor every 20ms. suppose if you like to check your accelerometer sensitivity just press
*>*< <*<*
on your phone >& < Indicates right & left Joystick key. Then select accelerometer then test. Just move your phone more slightly notice the variation in accelerometer readings
The c510 has that real accelerometer. It supports tilting to any side. You can even play motion games with it, kinda similar to the wii.
